Cynthia Hollandsworth Batty , b. Cynthia Hollandsworth (born July 8, 1956 in Washington ) is an American type designer .

Professional background

Cynthia Hollandsworth Batty was educated at the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland and was the editor of Calligraphy Idea Exchange magazine in the early 1980s . She played an important role in the question of font licensing and was chairman and board member of ATypI for many years . In this position, Batty initiated a. a. the “anti-piracy” campaign in the 1990s. To distribute her own typefaces, she founded AlphaOmega Typography in the mid-1980s . In 1987 the Typeface Design Coalition was founded to ensure the legal protection of font designs and software in the USA.

In 1988 she became manager of the typeface design and development department at Agfa Compugraphic and advisor to the ITC Typeface Review Board . At the end of the 1990s, she worked on the Agfa development team , which introduced the SAP software company-wide. She later became Vice President of Operational Systems at Simon & Schuster , a division of Viacom . She then switched to Technology Partners International as a consultant .
