Dólmen Forno dos Mouros by Toques

The Dólmen Forno dos Mouros of Toques ( German  "Oven of the Moors of Toques" ) is located in Toques, northeast of A Moruxosa and west of Lugo in Galicia in Spain and is one of the well-preserved megalithic structures in the region. A dolmen with the same nickname exists in Portugal ( Anta da Santa Marta ).

The chamber is approximately 3 feet long and 2 feet wide and high. All the bearing stones of the chamber and the corridor and the large capstone of the chamber protruding far at the rear have been preserved, but the capstones are missing above the approximately 3.0 m long corridor.

An important detail are the remains of the paintings on the first orthostat on the left. The images consist of red and black zigzag patterns on a white background. The motifs are similar to those in the dolmen of Dombate and the carvings by Roza das Modias. Today the paintings are covered to ensure their preservation.
