The Düstermühlenmarkt is one of the largest cattle and junk markets in the Münsterland . It takes place once a year on the last Monday in August and the previous Saturday and Sunday in the Legden district of Wehr an der Düstermühle . It has a centuries-old tradition, horses are still traded there with a handshake . In addition to the local population, it also attracts many visitors from the nearby Netherlands and the Ruhr area : According to the organizers and the Legden Tourist Association, the market has up to 80,000 visitors annually.

In addition to animals such as horses, ponies, goats, poultry and all kinds of small animals, textiles, household goods, tools, agricultural machinery, garden furniture, equestrian supplies, household chemicals and much more are traded. An entertainment offering with rides, shooting and raffle booths as well as snack stands complement the agricultural market.

The first official permit to hold the market was given in 1768.
