DBPIT is an abbreviation for The Well-known Post-Industrial Trumpeter and is a music project by the Roman artist Flavio Rivabella.

overview

Rivabella began his artistic career as a poet and performer and had appearances in smaller Roman off-theaters . But his interest in music began quite early, his first band was called The Sentinels. Rivabella plays the trumpet and has been involved in other subcultural projects of the Roman underground and beyond since the 1990s. The spectrum ranges from post-industrial to folklore to rock and jazz ; the most famous bands include Novy Svet , Circus Joy and Mushroom's Patience. In addition to his main instrument, he has a great interest in field recordings of different everyday noises, which he subsequently alienates and merges into collagen-like works. Being able to combine this with his trumpet according to his own ideas was one of the main reasons to start his own project shortly after 2000, the name of which is a tongue-in-cheek reference to a mention in the music press. The first solo album is entitled "Eleven" and was released in 2001. Rivabella usually completely dispenses with electronically generated sounds, sometimes even completely without electronic post-processing of his cut-ups. Nevertheless, the term " electroacoustics " has largely established itself as a genre term for his music in reporting. Guest musicians regularly take part in his work. a. Singing and spoken texts contribute, as recently the Japanese Kenji Siratori. In his most recent projects, Rivabella is increasingly turning to intermedia concepts, combining his music with video works , design and other works of visual art. Examples are his collaborations with the painter and illustrator XxeNa, who also lives in Rome. Rivabella also runs the two projects The Growing Crystals Lab and (with Marcello Fraioli) Space Allience .
