The DEURAG German legal expenses insurance AG is the legal expenses insurer the Signal Iduna Group. The object of business activity that extends to Germany is the operation of all types of legal protection insurance . The headquarters of the company are located in Wiesbaden . Other employees in the field service act as contact persons for independent sales partners in the regional offices of Berlin, Hamburg, Dortmund, Leipzig, Dresden, Cologne, Frankfurt, Nuremberg, Karlsruhe, Stuttgart and Munich.

In the 2019 financial year, DEURAG looked after around 855,000 customers and generated around EUR 175 million in premium income. DEURAG is the eighth largest legal expenses insurer in Germany.

history

DEURAG was founded in 1956 by the lawyer Wolfgang Schuppli in Wiesbaden as Deutsche Rechtsschutz-Versicherung AG. In 1973 the legal protection specialist was renamed DEURAG Deutsche Rechtsschutz-Versicherung AG. DEURAG has been part of the Signal Iduna Group since the end of 2008. 100% of the company's shares are held by the sole shareholder Signal Iduna Allgemeine Versicherung AG, Dortmund. In 2010 DEURAG strengthened its own legal protection competence through the merger with ALLRECHT Rechtsschutzversicherung AG. The ALLRECHT Rechtsschutzversicherungen brand continues to exist for the sales of the Signal-Iduna Group and the Munich Insurance Association.

DEURAG pursues a two-brand strategy on two sales channels. The ALLRECHT Rechtsschutzversicherungen brand is sold through the exclusive distribution of the Signal-Iduna Group and the Münchener Verein Versicherungsgruppe. The DEURAG brand is sold through independent sales partners (brokers and multiple agents).
