DIN 1946-4

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The DIN 1946-4 (Ventilation and air conditioning Part 4) sets out the minimum requirements for ventilation systems to reduce microbial contamination in buildings and rooms of health care, u. a. in hospitals and doctors' offices. It serves as infection prophylaxis in the planning, construction and acceptance of ventilation and air conditioning systems (RLT systems) and classifies the rooms (just like the previous DIN 1946-4: 2008 ) into two different room classes:

  • Room class I: operating theaters
    • Room class Ia: low-turbulence displacement flow (TAV concept, septic operating theaters and rooms with a high risk of contamination)
    • Room class Ib: turbulent mixed ventilation or mixed flow
  • Room class II: other rooms in the operating theater, examination rooms

The operation of the air conditioning systems only falls under the regulations of this DIN standard if the systems have been planned, built and approved in accordance with this standard. Departments for the treatment of highly infectious, life-threatening infectious diseases are outside the scope of this standard.
