title Documentation system - security against falsification and quality criteria for the release of digital product data
Brief description: Product documentation
Latest edition 2013-10
ISO

The DIN 6789 specifies the requirements for the falsification and the release of digital product data. This standard was drawn up by working committee NA 152-06-01 AA “Documentation” of the standards committee Technical Basics in the technical product documentation department of the German Institute for Standardization .

scope of application

DIN 6789 is limited to the requirements for technical documents. The requirements for security against falsification and the release of digital product data described in this document create the conditions for:

  • legal and / or specific requirements from the relevant contracts can be met;
  • Requirements of certifying or approving bodies can be met;
  • verification becomes possible that minimizes any risks to the greatest possible extent that could result from the quality of the relevant documents and the processes that generate or release them;
  • the relevant documents are securely available for reuse in the business process (e.g. for subsequent product modifications);
  • Risks resulting from doubtful proof documents (e.g. in producer liability cases) are reduced.

history

The version from October 2013 replaced DIN 6789-5: 1995-10, DIN 6789-6: 1998-05 and DIN 6789-7: 2005-06. This makes it clear that there was a series of standards before 2013, the content of which was partially summarized in DIN 6789 .
