DJK Eintracht Erle (full name: Deutsche Jugendkraft Eintracht Erle 1928 eV ) is a sports club from the Gelsenkirchen district of Erle . The club became known for its women's football department , which became German runner-up in 1974.

history

In 1922, the DJK Buer-Erle club was founded, a forerunner of today's club, which stopped playing after two years. Today's association was founded in 1928 and had to stop operating again after the National Socialists came to power . It was not until 1947 that club life was reactivated.

The women's football department, which was founded in 1971, achieved the greatest success. In 1974 the team trained by Lothar Dembinski, then a player in the amateur team of FC Schalke 04 , became Westphalian champions and qualified for the first German championship . Here Eintracht was able to prevail against Buxtehuder SV , Werder Bremen and Tennis Borussia Berlin and reached the final after a 3-1 against SV Bubach / Calmesweiler . Against TuS Wörrstadt , however, the Erlerinnen had no chance and lost 0: 4. A year later , the team reached the Westphalia Championship again and failed in the quarter-finals of the German championship at the eventual champions Bonner SC . The entire department later switched to FC Schalke 04.

The male soccer players, on the other hand, were only successful at the local level. From 1977 to 1982, Eintracht played in the district league. The first men's team is currently playing in the district league A.
