DMADV ( D efine - M easure - A nalyse - D esign - V erify) stands for the phases of a process management process. DMADV is the core process of the quality approach in quality management , Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) and aims to develop or further develop new products and processes so that they achieve a specified Six Sigma performance level.

Define
What is the mandate and the goal of the DFSS project is defined and a project plan is drawn up.
Measure
The customer needs are determined and development specifications (product requirements, specifications ) are derived from them. The appropriate methods are used to collect data for decision-making about how to proceed.

At the end of the phase you have:

  • a data collection plan with data type and data collection method
  • a validated measuring system
  • enough sample data to analyze the process
  • some preliminary evaluations to determine the main direction of the problem
analysis
The collected data are analyzed using statistical methods. Design alternatives are compared and the best solution is selected.
design
The detailed draft of the best solution is carried out and optimized.
Verify
The performance of the product is checked.
