DMS-59 connector on a graphics card

DMS-59 is a 59-pin, trapezoidal connector with a screw connection on both sides, which is mainly used for graphics cards . It enables two DVI-I signals to be transmitted via one cable. The pins are arranged in four rows of 15 pins each, with one pin missing in the last row.

Pin assignment

The connector enables more monitors to be connected than is possible with a simple DVI interface while taking up the same space . The two DVI-I signals of the DMS-59 provide two analog VGA signals or two digital DVI signals. This means that two monitors can be connected via a single DMS-59 connector with the aid of a suitable adapter ("Y-cable"). It is not possible to use a DMS-59 output with a dual-link DVI monitor.

The name is derived from Dual Monitor Solution and the 59 pins of the connector.
