DMX splitter

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The DMX-splitter is a device of the lighting equipment , the DMX signals of a light panel branched into a plurality of DMX-way and the distribution or signal amplification by DMX control signals used in lighting systems.

description

A DMX splitter is particularly useful in order not to have to loop the signal from device to device. This allows star-shaped DMX chains to be implemented instead of the otherwise compulsory successive ones, the maximum theoretical connection length is up to 1,200 m. Without a splitter, the DMX signal has to be looped from device to device. Most devices have a DMX input, which can be 3-pin or 5-pin, and two, four or eight DMX outputs. Many devices today can also regenerate the DMX signal (booster function). It is advisable to set a terminating resistor for the last receiver in each DMX chain. The power supply is usually via a Schuko plug and an integrated power supply unit that provides the supply voltage.
