The German Network Health Competence e. V. (DNGK) is an interdisciplinary scientific specialist society that deals with the theory and practice of health literacy .

Act

The DNGK was founded in 2019 as a non-profit association. The network serves the professional exchange of those interested in health literacy by maintaining a web-based information and communication platform. In addition, it is active in the development and communication of basic, advanced and advanced training curricula and models as well as the coordination of ongoing health competence-related research, training and practice. In addition to carrying out evaluation and research projects, it works on the further development of theories, methods and ethics of health literacy. The content-related work of the DNGK primarily takes place within the subject-specific departments (FB) and working groups (AG): FB Organizational Health Competence, FB Media, AG E-Library Health Competence (as of January 2020). The network publishes statements and regularly organizes expert workshops to promote health literacy.

Foundation and board of directors

The network was founded in 2019 at the Institute for Health Economics and Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Cologne (IGKE) on the initiative of long-term partners in the field of patient orientation.
