DOS / V

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

DOS / V is a variant of the DOS operating system for the Japanese market, which first appeared in 1990.

The name comes from the fact that the operating system uses the graphic mode of the VGA standard. With the resolution of 640 × 480 pixels possible, Japanese characters can also be displayed. The necessary input methods and fonts are implemented on the software side so that DOS / V can also be executed on western computers. Before this, Japan had its own computers, especially the PC-98 series from NEC , which were incompatible with Western programs.
