DSP version

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

DSP versions (Delivery Service Partner versions) are software versions that are supplied complete with a manual and data carrier.

Often times, Microsoft Windows licenses are sold as a DSP version. These are the packages previously sold as retail versions. The data carrier produced by Microsoft has a hologram on the side on which the labeling is usually printed. Such a hologram, which is difficult to forge, is said to make professional black copies more difficult.

Unlike OEM versions , DSP versions can also be sold by dealers without an associated PC. However, the dealers must also provide support for the operating system for the DSP versions; therefore these versions are usually offered at lower prices.
