DScaler is free software for real-time playback of digital video sources (especially analog TV cards). The aim when developing DScaler was to achieve the best possible image quality, especially on devices with high image resolution. A special feature are the various deinterlacing filters, which should achieve a significantly better quality than most (including commercial) programs for TV playback. In addition, DScaler also offers many other filters to improve the video signal, such as noise reduction, sharpening and gamma correction .

DScaler does not need any drivers to use analog TV cards, as the hardware of the chipsets used on the card is accessed directly. Although this is not program-compliant, it increases the performance and usability of this software.

The following chips are currently supported:

Many tuners are also supported by analog cards; usually these are also recognized automatically. In addition, video inputs (S-Video) of the cards are supported. Version 5 of the software is "in an early development stage" (so far only the MPEG filter can be tested). In this version, the software should no longer access the hardware directly, but use the drivers to reduce the load on the processor.
