DVTk ( DICOM Validation Toolkit) is an open source project for testing , validating and diagnosing communication protocols and scenarios in the medical environment. It supports DICOM, HL7 and IHE integration profiles.

history

The history of the DVTk goes back to 1997. The first version of the Validation Test Suite (VTS) was developed within the ARC group (Architecture Re-use and Communications) of Philips . This was a DICOM validation tool with a command line interface . Based on this, the ADVT ( Agfa DICOM Validation Tool) was later developed. This was the first tool with a graphical user interface that made DICOM validation more convenient.

In 2001, Version 1.2 was developed in cooperation between Philips and Agfa. After extensive redesigns and improvements, version 2.1 was published in June 2005. This version was also the first open source version.

In 2006, ICT Automatisering joined the DVTk open source project as the third participating company alongside Philips and Agfa.

In 2007 DVTk began participating in the IHE Gazelle project and provided an external validation service (DICOM Validation Webservice ).
