Roofing membrane

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A roof waterproofing membrane is a roll that can be used to produce roof waterproofing .

The term is used in the specialist literature for roofing felt , i.e. H. Bitumen sheeting and polymer bitumen sheeting are used, the weight per unit area of which, unlike bitumen welding sheets, is not large enough to be welded directly by heating. Instead, depending on the application, they are loosely laid on and weighted down or nailed or glued to the substrate over the entire surface using bitumen adhesive using the pouring or brush coating method.

Bitumen and polymer bitumen roof waterproofing membranes consist of a carrier layer impregnated with bitumen or polymer bitumen , top layers of bitumen or polymer bitumen on both sides and sanding on both sides or sanding on the underside and slurry on top. In contrast, cold self-adhesive bitumen sealing sheets and welding sheets have a talc layer , separating film or just the adhesive layer on the underside. The carrier layer can be a glass fiber fleece, a polyester fleece or a jute fabric.

In addition, other geomembranes such as plastic or elastomer geomembranes are sometimes referred to as roof geomembranes.

In addition to roof waterproofing, roof waterproofing membranes can also be used for waterproofing exterior walls in contact with the ground and wet rooms. Plastic waterproofing membranes are also used in the construction of ponds, in tunnels and landfill construction .
