The Daily Express Building is a commercial building in the Scottish city ​​of Glasgow . In 1974 the building was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A.

history

The building was built in 1936 for the Daily Express newspaper publisher . It housed offices and a printing shop. The British architect Owen Williams provided the design . In 1975 the short-lived Scottish Daily News was also housed in the building. After the Daily Express moved to Manchester , the Glasgow Herald took over the building. In 1986 it was revised and a large extension was added.

The building is on Albion Street, east of Glasgow city center. The four-story reinforced concrete building is modern . Its facades are fully glazed. Williams had previously used similar designs at the Boots Factory in Nottinghamshire and the Daily Express building in London . The additions from 1986 also include the stylistically similar, but higher block on the west side.
