Dainiin Club

The Dainiin Club ( Japanese 第二 院 ク ラ ブ Dainiin Kurabu , German 'club in the second house' ) is a political party in Japan and a former faction in the upper house, the Sangiin . Since 2004 it has no more MPs.

A first Dainiin club was created in 1953 through the merger of independent MPs. After the dissolution of Ryokufūkai , another faction made up of non-party members, it was created in its later form in 1962. The parliamentary group had the greatest strength after the Sangiin election in 1977 with four members. Since 1983, the Dainiin Club with declared candidates as a party in Sangiin elections - but never more than two MPs were elected.
