Daktronics Inc. is a United States electronics manufacturer headquartered in Brookings , South Dakota . The company produces and sells video displays, sports display systems and advertising displays and employs around 2,500 people.

history

Daktronics was founded in 1968 by Aelred Kurtenbach and Duane Sander, two professors from South Dakota State University in Brookings. The first products were electronic voting systems for regional parliaments and in 1971 the company developed its first own product with the patented Matside® wrestling scoreboard .

In 1994 Daktronics went public. Since then, the company's shares have been traded on the NASDAQ under the symbol DAKT.

Daktronics GmbH was founded in 2003 as the German branch of Daktronics Inc. In 2006 a new high-definition video scoreboard was delivered for the Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin , Texas , measuring 41 m by 25 m and a pixel resolution of 2064 × 848. At the time, it was the largest display in the world .

Products

Daktronics specializes in the production of displays. Among other things, video displays and large display boards for sports stadiums are manufactured. Giant billboards and variable message signs are also among the company's products.
