history

Otto Benninghoven

Otto Benninghoven started in Hilden in 1909 with a company for the construction of gear wheels and special machines. The entry into industrial combustion technology began in the 1950s. In the following decade, the asphalt industry became increasingly important to the company. In 1970 the company moved into a new, modern production facility in Mülheim, to which the company headquarters was then also relocated.

A newly built, ultra-modern electrical and final assembly hall has been used there since 2007. A second plant was maintained in nearby Wittlich . Mainly the steel construction as well as the assembly of screening machines and drying drums took place there. The two branches in Berlin and Hilden were given up due to the structure within the Wirtgen Group, as they were no longer necessary. In Brieselang near Berlin, the 100% subsidiary FAF Fördertechnik operates a branch in which construction and administrative tasks are handled. In Poland, FAF operates a production facility in which, in addition to conveyor belts, peripheral products for asphalt mixing plants are manufactured.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the new building of the future Benninghoven main plant in Wittlich-Wengerohr took place in 2016 . The total investment for the new building is estimated at> € 130 million. The opening of the new Benninghoven parent plant and production facility was officially announced on July 30, 2018. The main plant in Mülheim an der Mosel and the plant in Wittlich were closed.

The foreign branches in Bulgaria, France, Great Britain, Hungary, Lithuania, Austria, Poland, Romania, Russia and the Netherlands have been partially closed or have been transferred to the sales and service branches of the Wirtgen Group.

From July 30, 2018, Benninghoven GmbH & Co. KG will merge their production sites in Wittlich and Mülheim an der Mosel in Wittlich- Wengerohr . For this purpose, the most modern production plant for asphalt mixing plants in the world was built there. The total investment amounts to over € 130 million.
