Damaskini

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Damaskini were sermons in simple Bulgarian (initially also Church Slavonic ) language.

The Damaskini are translations of the collection of sermons of the Greek bishop Damaskenos Studites , which appeared in print in Venice in 1570. These were written in the Greek vernacular. The oldest translations were Church Slavonic , later translations into Bulgarian. Damaskini were popular and part of the oral culture; they weren't printed.
