The 1st steam beer brewery Zwiesel is a brewery in the Lower Bavarian town of Zwiesel . In 2009 it had 14 employees and an output of 16,000 hl.

history

In 1889, Wolfgang Pfeffer founded the family-run brewery with the production of steam beer based on his own recipe.

After the Bavarian forest was not suitable for growing wheat, pepper had to fall back on barley and, due to the lack of cooling facilities, brew a top-fermented beer.

Today, Mark Pfeffer is the fifth generation to run the brewery.

Since 1989, the steam beer has been brewed again according to the original recipe and stored in the historic beer cellars carved deep into the rock.
