Daniel Pratt Cemetery
The Daniel Pratt Cemetery is a historic cemetery in the American city of Prattville, Alabama. It was mainly used as a burial place for the Pratt industrialist family, including Daniel Pratt , after whom the cemetery is named today.
The cemetery lies above a steep slope known as Gin Shop Hill , at the foot of which Pratt's factories extend. The 26 verifiable graves date from the years 1849 to 1886. Among the people buried are:
- Daniel Pratt (1799–1873), industrialist, founder of the Pratt Gin Company
- Esther Ticknor Pratt (1808–1875), his wife
- John W. Gulick (1805-1847), artist
- William H. Fay (1841–1864), private in the Confederate Army, who fell against Union forces in the War of Civil Secession
After its abandonment, the cemetery fell into disrepair due to the effects of weather and vandalism. Several tombstones were badly damaged or completely destroyed. A local civic association had the cemetery restored.
