Methods

Medically necessary colon cleansing

Depending on the “cleanliness” of the intestine, different methods of intestinal cleansing can be considered. The most common method of preparing for diagnostic measures, such as B. a colonoscopy or a colon contrast enema , or to prepare for the operation is the orthograde intestinal lavage with a PEG solution . The intestine can also be emptied and cleaned with enemas and / or with laxatives in higher doses or even without the use of traditional laxatives with a combination of special herbal mixtures.

Colon cleansing before fasting cures

Glauber's salt ( sodium sulfate ) and enemas still play an important role in fasting cures . At the beginning of the fasting cure and then every two days, it is usually drained alternately with Glauber's salt or the enema, whereby the intestine is to be freed of " slag ". A health-promoting effect of such measures has not yet been proven.
