The Wochenblatt is a German-language online newspaper with news from Paraguay .
The newspaper has been published daily as an online edition since September 2009. Topics such as politics, culture, events and German events in Paraguay are covered.
Jan Päßler was the publisher and editor-in-chief until September 2014. Since then, a team of authors has been publishing articles Monday through Sunday. The authors live in different places in Paraguay and sometimes commute between Germany and Paraguay, which ensures different viewing angles.
The readers come mainly from Paraguay , Germany and the neighboring German-speaking countries. The majority of the regular site visitors are expats who have found a new home in Paraguay and want to read the news about their new home in their mother tongue. There are also numerous Paraguayans whose ancestors came from German-speaking countries. There are also large numbers of Mennonite readers. The German-Paraguayan Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Asunción estimates the number of German speakers in Paraguay at more than 100,000 people.
