The scientific-religious-educational lexicon on the Internet

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Scientific-Religious Pedagogical Lexicon ( WiReLex , pronounced “wirelex”) is a scientific lexicon on religious -educational key words freely accessible on the Internet . The articles come from more than 60 scientists or experts in the respective field.

The lexicon is designed and maintained by ten ecumenical editorial teams under the direction of professors for religious education Mirjam Zimmermann (University of Siegen) and Heike Lindner (University of Cologne). The project is supported by the German Bible Society (DBG) and the Comenius Institute in Münster. The target group are people who are involved in religious education, such as religion teachers, community educators, pastors, theology students and lecturers. The topics of the lexicon are presented from the perspective of pedagogy and didactics of religious learning and educational processes, whereby not only specialist content can be looked up, but also impulses for further work can be found. The articles in WiReLex provide theory-based information on current, didactically and methodically reflected practical models from the areas of religious instruction, children's worship, community youth work and community instruction for children (communion children, confirmands, confirmands), adult education and work with the elderly.

After two years of preparation, WiReLex went online on February 2, 2015 with around 100 articles. Every February, the lexicon is partially updated and expanded with new articles. Currently (as of 2019) 450 articles are available. WiReLex ties in with the Lexicon of Religious Education (LexRP) and continues it.
