Data link switching

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Data Link Switching ( DLSW ) is a network protocol for the transmission of non-routable protocols via TCP / IP . With DLSW, SNA and NetBIOS data can be dynamically forwarded (routed) in a TCP / IP network.

DLSW was developed by IBM in 1992 and described in RFC 1434 in 1993 . In 1995, DLSW was specified in detail in RFC 1795 as version 1. Version 2 followed with RFC 2166 in 1997. The company Cisco developed its own extensions for this, which are referred to as DLSW +.
