Datasource

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A data source is understood to be a logical database interface for a database connection . It is to be seen above all in the context of distributed systems . This hides the complexity behind the logical database connection. One speaks here of transparency . The physical configuration behind the data source is not relevant. A database cluster or several distributed databases can be located behind it . The user of the database connection does not care. The system is thus similar to DNS , in which IP addresses are hidden behind a logical name. This technology is particularly widespread in Java . With the help of the JTA , the transaction security of logical database connections is ensured.
