Bureau International de l'Edition Mecanique

BIEM ( B ureau I nternational des Sociétés Gérant les Droits d ' E nregistrement et de Reproduction M écanique ) is an international organization in the field of music industry (including literary and dramatic productions), headquartered in France Neuilly-sur-Seine .

It represents 55 national societies from 59 countries (as of April 2014) on copyright issues vis-à-vis other international organizations such as the World Intellectual Property Organization and helps with contentious issues among its member organizations, among others. These include, for example, the German Society for Musical Performance and Mechanical Reproduction Rights (GEMA), the Swiss SUISA and the Austrian Society of Authors, Composers and Music Publishers .
