Quintus Antistius Adventus Postumius Aquilinus
Quintus Antistius Adventus Postumius Aquilinus was a 2nd century Roman politician , senator, and military officer.
Born around the mid-120s, Antistius was a homo novus and came from Thibilis in Numidia .
After the military tribunate in the Legio I Minervia , he began his senatorial career as quaestor in the province of Macedonia . Later he was tribune of the people , legate in the province of Africa and praetor. As a legate of the Legio VI Ferrata he was active in Syria Palestine , from 162 as a legate of the Legio II Adiutrix participant in the Parthian War, where he was highly decorated. Probably from 165 to 167 Antistius Adventus was governor of Arabia Petraea , in this province an honor has been received for him in Bostra and one for his wife in Gerasa . On the first inscription Antistius is referred to as consul designatus , on the second as consul, so that he may have attended his not precisely datable consulate suffect in his absence; it probably falls on the year 167.
Later, Antistius was responsible for public construction in Rome as curator operum locorumque publicorum . As legatus Augusti at praetenturam Italiae et Alpium expeditione Germanica , he was supposed to fend off Germanic tribes in northern Italy. From around 170 he was governor of the province of Germania inferior , around 173 to 176 of the province of Britannia . Antistius was also fetialis , probably since the time of his consulate.
Antistius was married to Novia Crispia and was the father of the Consul of 181, Lucius Antistius Burrus .
