File system error

A file system error is a defect in a sector on the hard disk . In contrast to the head crash , however, it is not the hard drive itself, but one or more files stored on it that is defective. The cause can be system crashes or improper deletion.

Resolving file system errors

In Windows, for example, this is done using the “ Checkdisk ” tool , which is called using the chkdsk command. Under Linux and other Unix-like operating systems, a whole collection of file system-specific tools is available for the possible file systems , which can be called using fsck via a command.
