Data processing registers

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The data processing register ( DVR ) is a central register in Austria in which all data applications that are subject to mandatory reporting (e.g. electronic databases ) are to be entered. The Austrian data protection authority is responsible for maintaining the data processing register , based on § 16 ff DSG 2000, and its area of activity is defined in more detail by a regulation based on the Data Protection Act 2000 .

The data protection authority assigns a seven-digit registration number, the so-called DVR number , to the entrepreneurs who operate reportable databases . You can inquire free of charge at any time from the data processing register as to which client has been assigned a specific DVR number. The company must quote the DVR number every time it contacts the person concerned. The DVR number of the Austrian data protection authority is 0000027.

Basically (according to § 26 DSG 2000) there is a right to information in particular about the data processed on a person, about the origin of this data, about the purpose of the data use and any recipients of data transfers. Furthermore (according to § 27 DSG 2000) there is a fundamental right to correct or delete data.
