Thumb register
A thumb register , also a grip register or grip hole register , are the stepped cut-outs attached to the front edge ( front cut ) of books .
A thumb register is mostly used in reference works , but also in z. B. Address books , are used to find the job you are looking for faster. The semicircular or angular grip points can be pasted with register plates made of paper , linen or leather , on which letters or numbers are printed. The prefabricated, punched-out handle bar allows you to get to the right place with "one handle".
The thumb register is not to be confused with the hand mark .
