David Robert Mitchell (* 1974 in Clawson ) is an American film director and author. He directed the coming-of-age drama The Myth of the American Sleepover (2010) . His 2014 supernatural horror film, It Follows , received critical acclaim and was commercially successful given its low, independent film budget. With Under the Silver Lake , a modern noir film in the setting of modern Los Angeles, his third work was created in 2018, for which he again acted as director and screenwriter.

life and career

Mitchell was born in Clawson, Michigan and graduated from Florida State University with an MFA in production. He was named as a member of the jury for the 2016 International Critics' Week of the Cannes Film Festival .
