De Leonism

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

De Leonism , sometimes referred to as Marxism-Deleonism , is a form of Marxism developed by Daniel De Leon . De Leon was an early chairman of the first socialist party in the United States , the Socialist Labor Party of America , which still exists today and refers to De Leon ideologically.

theory

De Leon combined the rising theory of syndicalism of his time with orthodox Marxism . According to De Leonist theory, radical industrial unions (specialized unions ) are the vehicles of the class struggle . Trade unions serving the interests of the proletariat should create the conditions for the establishment of a socialist society. The difference to anarcho-syndicalism is that, according to De Leonism, a revolutionary party is necessary and that under socialism there will be a government.
