Deacon is the name of an American sounding rocket . The Deacon was launched 90 times by the Wallops Flight Facility between 1947 and 1957 , often also to test aerodynamic aircraft and rocket models. The Deacon has a peak height of 20 kilometers and a payload of 17 kilograms. The starting thrust of the Deacon is 27 kN, the starting weight 93 kg, the diameter 0.16 m and the length 3.28 m.

The Deacon missile was also bundled as a Double Deacon ('two-way Deacon'), triple-Deacon ('triple Deacon') and quad-Deacon ('four-way Deacon') used. It was also used with a Nike starting stage as a Nike Deacon . Air launches also took place with the help of balloons called Rockoon .
