Death Is Not Glamorous are a melodic hardcore and hardcore punk band from Oslo, Norway , which has been in existence since winter 2004 .

history

The band was founded in 2004 by singer Christian Medaas together with guitarists Terje Moxness Kortner and Espen Bjerved. As a result, former Damage Control drummer Even Skår joined the new group. Later Emanuele Lapponi and Mathias Albinsson followed as bassists to play fast, melodic hardcore . After the first appearances and the first demos, a contract with the English label Dead and Gone Records followed . The first album Wide Eyes was released on this . After that, the group was on tour a lot, including with Hoods Up . There has been no sign of life from the band since 2014. Already in 2011, drummer Skår and the then bassist Lapponi played in the band Bouvet and singer Medaas and guitarist Bjerved in the Norwegian punk band Problems, which released an album in 2016.

style

Death Is Not Glamorous are based on classic old-school hardcore with melodic vocals and guitar riffs, with occasional new school influences. The overall picture as a melodic band of the "old school" is not particularly affected. In terms of content, the band represents, among other things, a rejection of organized religion; Singer Medaas described Christianity in an interview as "patriarchal, sexist, homophobic and violent".
