Deer Hunter is a series of North American computer games for the PC . It was developed by WizardWorks Software , a division of Infogrames . The design comes from Sunstorm Interactive .

The first game in the series was released on December 31, 1997, Deer Hunter 5: Tracking Trophies on November 30, 2001. Southlogic Studios then started the Deer Hunter games Deer Hunter 2003 , Deer Hunter 2004, and Deer Hunter 2005 , all published by Atari . There are also versions for the Mac of the original game Deer Hunter and its successor Deer Hunter II .

The game revolves around deer hunting in either a thick forest or a meadow. The times of the day and seasons vary. Animals other than deer, such as the yeti, can also be seen in the games, but they serve no other purpose than to beautify the environment. In the latest version, the player can also take over the management of a deer herd. This includes, for example, an overview of the growth of the deer population and the inheritance of the individual characteristics of the deer.
