Dehnberger Hof Theater

The Dehnberger Hof Theater (DHT) is a theater stage set up in an old farm in the Dehnberg district of the city of Lauf an der Pegnitz near Nuremberg.

The theater was founded in 1973, when the farm was purchased by Wolfgang Riedelbauch, Kapellmeister at the Nuremberg Opera House , and his wife. As the centerpiece of the theater, the farm's former hop barn was converted into a 200-seat stage. Further renovation work to complement the theater followed later.

In addition to theater performances in Franconian dialect, the theater hosts cabaret events, readings by authors and concerts ranging from classical to folk and jazz. The jazz morning pints and open-air theater performances in the open air in the picturesque inner courtyard of the theater are very popular in summer. In addition, the Dehnberger Hoftheater offers numerous events and workshops for children and young people, as well as theater courses for ambitious amateur actors. This diverse program of events, which is not limited to local topics and includes around 200 performances annually, has contributed to the fact that the Dehnberger Hof Theater is also known nationwide. The in-house productions of rarely played baroque operas in chamber versions (e.g. Stadens Seelewig ) were particularly noted by visitors from across the region .

The administrative budget is supported by a board of trustees consisting of the district council president, district administrator and mayor of the city of Lauf, the artistic budget is made up of association membership fees, entrance fees and donations, not least from the Freundeskreis Dehnberger Hof Theater.

On September 22nd, 2006 the theater celebrated its 30th anniversary and appointed Ekkehard Wagner an honorary member, who ensured the continuation of the theater for 16 years.
