Picking up

The pickling ( French decapage = to remove) is part of a process for coating or anodizing metal parts. If workpieces are removed from a bath in which they have previously been degreased , adhering alkaline bath solution must be rinsed off so that subsequent processes are not damaged. However, alkalis are much more difficult to remove than acids. To remove a degreasing lye from the surface, immerse it in a dilute acid solution (5–10% hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid ). This achieves a neutralization of the surface. The weak acid can simply be rinsed off.
