Demetrius (governor)
Demetrius was a Roman governor on Cyprus in the 1st century BC.
Demetrius was a freedman of Gaius Iulius Caesar and was taken over by Marcus Antonius , probably after the removal of Serapion in 41 BC. BC, installed as governor in Cyprus. The island was confirmed several times by Antony as the property of the Egyptian Queen Cleopatra VII , but he apparently relied on his own confidants for its administration. In 39 BC Chr. Demetrius crossed to Cilicia to take the renegade Quintus Labienus prisoner.
