The demopark + special show lawn is a European open-air exhibition for machines and devices in green area maintenance, in gardening and landscaping as well as in golf course maintenance. It takes place every two years at the Eisenach-Kindel airfield near Eisenach and is managed by VDMA Services GmbH, a subsidiary of the Association of German Mechanical and Plant Engineering. The first demopark took place in 1999 on the former American military airfield in Fulda.
In 2005 there was a change of location to the Wartburg district near Eisenach, which increased the exhibition area. Since then, products and services from the field of green space maintenance, gardening, landscaping and sports field construction as well as municipal technology have been presented on a total area of around 250,000 square meters. Demonstrations of machines and devices under operating conditions take place in specially created demonstration areas.
Since 2007 the demopark has been offering a special show on the subject of lawns, which is under the patronage of the German lawn society. Lawn and seed specialists as well as manufacturers of maintenance machines for sports and golf turf will inform golf course operators, greenkeepers and golf clubs about new developments. Guided tours are also offered on a specially created, 4,000 square meter lawn.
The exhibition program includes irrigation and water maintenance, biological and chemical products, cemetery technology, golf course construction and maintenance, green space construction and maintenance, aerial work platforms, cranes, recycling systems and renewable energies. In 2019, more than 400 national and international exhibitors from around 50 product segments took part in demopark. Exhibitors from 16 countries were represented at the open-air exhibition. Around 37,000 visitors attended the event over the three days of the fair.
