Denis Larkin

Denis Larkin (* 1908 ; † July 2, 1987 ) was an Irish politician and was a member of the lower house of the Irish Parliament from 1954 to 1961 and from 1965 to 1969 .

In 1954 Larkin was elected to the 15th Dáil Éireann for the Irish Labor Party . After he kept his seat in the 16th Dáil Éireann, he was unable to defend it in the 1961 elections for the 17th Dáil. In 1965 he was re-elected to the Dáil Éireann. In the next election, Larkin declined to run again.

In addition to his work as a member of parliament, Larkin was a member of the Dublin City Council , the Dublin Corporation (now Dublin City Council ), for almost 30 years . During this time he held the office of Lord Mayor of Dublin from 1955 to 1956 .

Denis Larkin was the son of the Irish labor leader James Larkin . Like him, he was also active in the trade union movement.
