In the Estonian village of Voldi in Tartu County , where the Äksi-Kukulinna road joins the Tartu-Jogeva-Aravete road, a memorial commemorates the Estonian War of Liberation ( Estonian Vabadussõda ) from 1918 to 1920.

history

The memorial for the fallen from the Ecks ( Äksi ) parish was completed on June 28, 1925. The figure was removed in 1945. After regaining sovereignty, a replica of the statue was made, and on August 27, 1989 the monument was complete again.

description

From both streets a stone path leads from the left and from the front over a larger green area to a slight elevation, four steps then lead to a square area completely laid out with stone slabs. In the middle there is a three-step base on which a granite column sits enthroned, which also tapers at the top with a three-step staircase. The conclusion is a simple, uniformed bronze soldier who has placed a rifle on the ground in front of him.

On the front of the column, a bronze oak leaf is placed in the lower half, and a text with the year of the War of Independence and a reference to the location is engraved in the upper half:

"Eesti
Vabadussõjas
Langenuile
1918–1920
Tanulik Äksi
Kihelkond"

34 names are engraved on the back of the column.
