Dephlegmator operation

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As Dephlegmatorbetrieb in is the power plant sector , an operating mode designated for protection against Einfrierungen.

It can happen that liquids in pipelines freeze and in the worst case cause destruction of the pipeline (pipe ruptures). This entails repair costs and may also lead to a shutdown of the power plant.

In order to prevent condensates from freezing in air condensers at low ambient temperatures or when the heat output to be dissipated is low, you can switch to dephlegmator mode. In this case, steam flows against the direction of flow of the condensate into the pipes of the air condensers in order to prevent freezing.
