Dephlegmator

Distillery for the production of spirits with dephlegmator (11)

A dephlegmator is a condenser that is designed to condense vapors and return them to the boiler before the actual condenser. This ensures a higher separation performance .

A mixture of chemical substances can not be separated from one another in the desired purity by distillation if a mixture is also present in the steam. In order to allow only the lower-boiling liquid to pass through, the temperature in the dephlegmator is kept just above the boiling point of the liquid. The higher-boiling liquid condenses in the dephlegmator and is fed back into the boiler.
