Low boilers

A low boiler is the component in a mixture of chemical substances whose vapor pressure is higher and whose boiling temperature is lower than that of the other components.

The term is important in rectification and distillation . The low boiler is the component that can be drawn off at the top of the column . Low boilers are often also referred to as volatile compounds . The counterpart to the low boiler is the high boiler .
