The raid ( Russian Налёт , Naljot ) is a short story by the Soviet writer Mikhail Bulgakov , which appeared on December 25, 1923 in the satirical magazine Gudok .

Before 1923 in Ukraine: The Jewish worker Abram and his neighboring posts Strelzow and Stschukin from the guard regiment are attacked by mounted "bandits" in the snowstorm on the railway embankment. Abram miraculously survives. Despite a severe head wound, he crawls to the stationer's house, which a woman lives with her child, and is let in. Abram wants to dig Strelzow out of the snow the next morning - in vain.
