The ball is round

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The ball is round was a music program on the radio of the Hessischer Rundfunk , which was broadcast from 1984 to the end of 2008 and was compiled and moderated by Klaus Walter from the beginning . Aside from the musical mainstream , Walter mainly dealt with artists in this program who have not yet had any chart successes, but who may have set new trends.

Within a short period of time, The Ball had around a large and loyal fan base. After switching to the radio wave hr2 for a year , this program was broadcast again on hr3 in May 2005 .

The title of the program is derived from the succinct “ soccer wisdom“The ball is round and a game lasts 90 minutes” , which is attributed to the former German national coach Sepp Herberger . Footballer cross-references also ran through many other programs as a leitmotif. Klaus Walter always ended the moderation of his show with the sentence "... and don't forget, the next game is always the hardest!"

The presenter announced in the broadcast of November 2, 2008 that The Ball is about to end on December 27 of the same year. By contrast, a signature campaign initiated by listeners was running.
